Steve Bishop’s work is about a relationship between memory and space; making installations that reference domestic spaces and that formalize the emotional weight of the room. Mood, feelings and memory are formally elusive and their appearance as a topic or basis in his work has stemmed from a practice long invested in attempting to deal with the intangible. Making this connection between physicality in a spatial and objective sense and the intangibility of experience are at the core of his thought process. Voids, non-spaces and disillusionment can reflect their positive presence as much as they are symbols of absence.
