Outside, there are roars of revolt. Chains clashing, swords and shields clanging, helmets and chest plates rattling; steel to steel, like stick to drum they play a rhythm resembling Art Blakey’s “The Freedom Rider”. The vocals of those who have suffered from this despotic corrosion wails over the storm, Pharoah Sanders “The Gathering”, entering deep into an internal space where ancestors break free from their cage of turmoil to join their children at war. In response to colonization and genocide these are the roars that chant “We don’t die, we multiply!”.
